Tips to Prepare a Great Cup of Tea
or Recipe for Steeped Tea
- Make sure your kettle and tea pots are clean, but NEVER use soap to clean your teapot. You will have a soapy aftertaste in your pot.
- Use cold, good tasting water. Only boil your water once, reheating your water will give tea a flat taste. Also do not let the water boil for more than a few seconds – if you boil too long, the water loses oxygen and makes the tea taste bitter.
- Use one heaped tsp of tea per cup (or use our spoons – we have one perfect for a cup and one for a pot). If you like your tea weaker or stronger, adjust the ratio.
- Always brew your tea for the proper amount of tea. The recommended time is 3 – 5 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. Start at 2 minutes to get to know your preferences.
- Serve with milk, sugar, lemon, honey or even maple syrup, or simply on its own. Our teas are very flavourful and you may find you do not need to add anything!

Tips to Prepare a Great Pitcher of Iced Tea
Method #1 using our Bodum Iced Tea Pitcher
- Boil a kettle of freshly run, cold water. Pour the water into the Iced Tea Pitcher, filling it about half-way.
- Scoop your tea of choice into the built-in infuser, about 6 "perfect cup" spoons.
- Sweeten your tea by adding a sugar syrup (dissolving 1/3 c sugar in 1/2 c water over low heat on the stove), or by stirring granular sugar, sweetener, honey or maple syrup into the hot water until dissolved.
- Add 1 c frozen (or fresh) mixed berries/fruit to the pitcher and fill the pitcher with ice. If you used a herbal tea, you don't need to remove the infuser; remove the infuser after 5 minutes with black and green teas.
Method #2 without the Bodum Iced Tea Pitcher
1. Boil a kettle of freshly run, cold water.
2. Put 12 -15 "perfect cup" spoons of tea into teapot. Add 1 1/4 c boiled water and let steep about 5 minutes.
3. Add cold water to your pitcher, about 1/4 filled.
4. Pour hot tea through a strainer into pitcher.
5. Add sugar, stirring vigourously to dissolve.
6. Add ice, any fruit and cold water to fill.
