Here's How You Can Support the Pink a Boo Tea Party!

Steeped Tea is hosting an amazing event for the sick kids at McMaster hospital.
The hospital room is being transformed into a beautiful pink tea room. The ceilings will be adorned with pink tulle, twinkly lights and ornaments. The tables will be set with beautiful china and will each have a gorgeous flower centerpiece. We have a magician, 5 princesses..., The Mad Hatter, a famous author, Lynn Fox from Hamilton who is reading her beautiful story and dress up clothes for the children to play with AND Canadian Idol finalist Tara Keith who will be singing songs with the children.
For those children unable to make it to the party because they are restricted to their rooms, each of our entertainers will be visiting them with lots of treats and gifts.
There are cupcakes, a beautiful tea party cake and delicious teas from Steeped Tea for the children to snack on. Each child will be receiving a Children's Tea Party set from Steeped Tea, a reversible hat from Luvali Convertibles, beautiful pictures from One for the Wall Photography, ribbon clips from Ribbon Headz and a signed book from author Lynne Fox.

Join Jess for the 3rd Annual LADIES SHOPPING NIGHT Fundraiser at St. John Chrysostom Parish Hall, 285 Albert St. Arnprior, ON on Friday November 4 from 4:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M. There will be lots of vendor's there ranging from clothing to jewellery to TEA!! Jess will be selling from the catalog, 25g bag's of our holiday teas and she'll even have pre-filled tea bags of our holiday teas. They make GREAT stocking stuffers, along with handing out free samples of 2 of our holiday teas! So come say hi and have a cuppa tea.

Saturday, November 5th, 10 am - 3 pm - If you are near Winnipeg, make some time to visit Patricia Thomas at the Deer Lodge Christmas Craft Show. She plans to serve White Swiss Truffle and Christmas Chai teas! Enjoy a sample, place an order, find out more about being a tea consultant.

Sunday, November 6th, 10 am - 4 pm - If you are in the Waterloo Region, plan to visit Brooke Lynn at the KW Mom Show, held at the Holiday Inn, 30 Fairway Road S in Kitchener. There will be yummy tea samples and goodies!

More on Japan and Tea

Spring feels like it has arrived here in Ontario, and it has arrived in Japan. In fact tea harvest time is quickly nearing.

We shared recently that the tsunami and earthquake that overwhelmed Japan a month ago (yes, it's been a month already), did not directly impact the tea gardens there, but the after effects  likely will.

Japan's power supply has been deeply impacted by the disaster and rolling power outages are a regular occurrence. Residents and business owners are to expect power outages throughout the spring and summer as attempts to rebuild the northern area of Japan proceed. Tea production in Japan makes use of electricity to pick tea (on some gardens), process it, and package it.

According to World Tea News,  Nozomu (Nez) Tokugawa of Chado-En, LLC said Tuesday the Japanese tea harvest is scheduled to begin in Kagoshima on April 10. In Shizuoka it will “possibly” begin April 25. The Shizuoka growers are much closer to Tokyo and which likely to feel the impact of the blackouts last up to three hours. In urban areas interruptions in service prevent workers from using the subways and trains and disrupt business operations. Western Japan is on a separate power grid. Osaka uses a 60 cycle grid and Tokyo a 50 cycle grid making power sharing between the two regions inefficient.

Ito-En reports, "Shizuoka, Kagoshima and Mie produce the most tea. Shizuoka is Japan's most prolific tea-growing region, accounting for more than 40% of Japan's commercial production each year. Next is Kagoshima, in southern Kyushu in the far southwest of Japan's main archipelago, which produces about 20% of Japan's tea. Third is Mie, in central Japan. Other important tea-growing regions include the areas of the ancient capitals — Nara and Kyoto and various parts of Kyushu, with its comparatively mild climes. Gardens in the Kuji River valley in northern Japan and Saitama grow very little of Japan's 92,500 metric tons of green tea."

Babies and Tea!

Uh, no. We're not advocating tea for babies, exactly.

But we will be at the upcoming Baby Show in Sarnia, with a booth there. Doddie Dowswell is very excited to be a participant at THE SARNIA BABY SHOW March 26th with her business sharing yummy tea samples and the health benefits of tea to infants, children and adults! Plus I will have fundraiser kits available for Sarnia School of Defense c/o Jorge De Guzman! I am so excited! Come for a fun-filled day and help support a great cause!
